The Mission

A remastered title moving to the PS5 presents its own challenges, both technical and design based, but less considered is also languages where it takes deep consideration to strike the balance between the original script, any modern updates applied, and the target audience who often remember the original extremely fondly. 

As part of this project's remake, there was also a keen focus on accessibility, with full subtitle support, new options added to menus and HUDs, all wrapped alongside new languages that the original game didn't have.

The Solution

23 LQA testers were hand picked based on prior experience, both of the classic title and other notable entries in the genre. Alongside this knowledge, each LQA tester's own cultural experience, and understanding of unique history, trends, tastes, and customs for their designated language, helped to retain the dramatic flair and grit of the original title.

Through constant communication, team co-ordination, and our tried and tested open access team structure, we were able to offer advice in real-time during development, allowing problems to be addressed sometimes before they are implemented.

Results That Made a Difference

Not only did the team deliver strong coverage, with thorough checks and balances of new introductions, they even found legacy issues remaining from the original title and were able to advise on solving these with a delicate touch that never detracted from the original vision.
